Documents required for the Italy visa
This is the core list, and we tailor it to your situation after the free check. Under each document you will find why the consulate asks for it.
Passport valid for at least 3 months after your return date, with two blank pages, and issued within the last 10 years.
Why the consulate asks for it: The consulate needs the passport to stay valid through and after the trip, with room for the visa sticker.
Two recent photos to Schengen specifications: white background, 35 by 45 mm.
Why the consulate asks for it: The photo goes on the sticker and is matched against your biometrics. A photo off spec delays the file.
Schengen visa application form, fully completed and signed, with copies of your passport and previous visas.
Why the consulate asks for it: The consulate compares every field on the form with your documents, and any difference counts as an inconsistency.
Bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months, stamped by the bank and issued a few days before the appointment.
Why the consulate asks for it: The Italian consulate insists on a recent, stamped statement and looks at how the account moves, not only the balance.
For employees: employer letter on company letterhead with your position, salary, start date and approved leave.
Why the consulate asks for it: It proves you have a stable job to return to, the strongest sign of your ties to Egypt.
For employees: a recent social insurance printout.
Why the consulate asks for it: It confirms your job is officially registered and not only a letter, and it is often requested for Italy files.
For business owners: valid commercial register and tax card, plus the business account statement if you have one.
Why the consulate asks for it: They prove your source of income and that you run an active business you need to come back to.
Travel insurance with at least 30,000 EUR cover, valid across the Schengen area for the whole trip.
Why the consulate asks for it: A core Schengen rule, so a medical emergency is not paid for by the state.
Confirmed hotel booking for every night of the stay in Italy.
Why the consulate asks for it: The consulate wants to know where you sleep each night, and the dates must match your flights and itinerary.
Return flight reservation (a hold is enough, do not buy the ticket before the visa).
Why the consulate asks for it: It fixes the length of the trip and shows you intend to return.
A simple day by day itinerary.
Why the consulate asks for it: It shows Italy is the main destination and that the trip is planned and makes sense.
If visiting family or friends: a declaration of hospitality (dichiarazione di ospitalità) signed by your host, with a copy of their ID or residence permit.
Why the consulate asks for it: The Italian consulate asks for this specific declaration to confirm the purpose of the visit and who is responsible for hosting you.
For business trips: an invitation letter from the Italian company stating the purpose, the dates and who covers the costs.
Why the consulate asks for it: It links the trip to your work and shows there is a company in Italy expecting you.
For children: birth certificate and a notarised consent from the parent who is not travelling.
Why the consulate asks for it: The consulate checks that the child travels with the consent of both parents.
Top reasons Italy visas get refused
These are the points we look at first in the free check, so we can write your red-flag report before you submit.
Weak proof of work or income: an unstamped or incomplete letter, or no social insurance record or commercial register to back it up.
An old or unstamped bank statement, or large sudden deposits before applying.
Applying to Italy when it is not the main destination of the trip.
Flight, hotel and itinerary dates that contradict each other.
Travel insurance that does not cover every day of the trip or is below 30,000 EUR.
A family visit without a declaration of hospitality or without the host's documents.
A previous refusal or overstay not declared on the form.

What we do for your Italy file
Our work starts with the first document and stays with you until the decision comes out.
Who is this visa for?
The Italy visa is a short stay Schengen visa for tourism, visiting family or friends, a business trip or a short course of up to 90 days in any 180 day period. You apply to Italy when it is the main destination of your trip, or the first country you enter when the stays are equal. The Italian consulate looks closely at proof of work and income, so a well organised file makes a real difference here.
An Italy specific checklist for your situation: employee, business owner, student, or travelling with family.
A review of every document and a written red-flag report before submission, with a focus on proof of work and income.
The Schengen form filled in and cross checked against your documents.
Your submission appointment booked at the VFS centre, with the confirmation sent to your email.
Travel insurance, hotel and flight reservations and the itinerary arranged as proof.
A briefing before the appointment day and support until the decision comes out.
We prepare the file and reserve the appointment only. You attend the appointment yourself, submit your file and give your biometrics. We do not go to the consulate on your behalf.
Common questions about the Italy visa
We guarantee a complete file that meets the consulate's requirements and a written red-flag report before submission. We do not guarantee a visa or a specific date; the consulate decides.
Yes. You attend the appointment yourself, submit your file and give your biometrics. We prepare the file, book the appointment and brief you for the day. We do not go to the centre on your behalf.
The core requirements are the same because it is all Schengen, but the Italian consulate looks harder at proof of work and income and prefers documents that are recent and stamped. That is why we prepare Italy files in their own way.
No, and this is one of the most common causes of trouble. You apply to Italy when it is the country where you stay the longest, and your itinerary and bookings have to show that.
Usually 15 days from submission, and up to 45 days in busy periods or if the consulate asks for extra documents. That is why we recommend applying one to two months before travel.
Never. We never ask for your VFS password or OTP. The account is in your name and you receive the appointment confirmation on your own email.
